I'm having the same experience--and it didn't used to be this way. Long ago (I've been here too long, apparently) blocking a writer or pub would immediately remove them from your feed, and they wouldn't even show up in a search. Now it seems like Medium itself is spamming us with content we've specifically opted out of. It's a mess.
