My father ran our local NAACP in the 60’s and was constantly on the radio and in the paper as the leader of the protests, etc. When people would praise him for a massive turnout or an election won, he’d interrupt and say, “Men make speeches. Women get shit done. You wanna know how we did it? Go ask my wife. The women did everything. All I did was show up and get my picture taken.” LOL
